This lid is CNC-cut from 3/8″ clear polycarbonate to the outside size of the Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf's glass, with a lip that sits inside the glass so it cannot slide and a mesh window in the middle for optimal gas exchange and light penetration. It works as a screen top and jump guard: fish and invertebrates stay in the tank while light and air pass through. It is longer than one panel, so it is cut as 2 panels that butt together at a seam.
Add a feeding hole with a black or white cap, cutouts for hoses, wires and light mounts, a feeding cup or a removable evaporation cover in the configurator above. You approve a digital proof before anything is cut, and the lid ships free to the contiguous US, usually within a week. If it doesn't fit because of our error, we remake it at no charge.

Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf Lid Questions
- Does the Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf lid cover the whole top of the tank?
- Yes. There is no filter chamber on the 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf, so the lid covers the whole top of the tank and sits on a lip inside the glass. Nothing hangs over the edge, and the clear polycarbonate keeps the rimless look.
- Is the Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf lid one piece?
- No. The 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf is longer than one panel, so the lid is cut as 2 panels that butt together at a flat seam. Each panel has its own mesh window and lip, and you can lift one at a time to feed or scape.
- Does the lid come with a feeding hole?
- A capped feeding hole is an option in the configurator: choose a black or white cap and drag the hole to the corner you feed from. A feeding cup that holds food at the surface and a removable evaporation cover over the mesh are optional too.
- Will the lid work with my light?
- In most setups, yes. The lid sits inside the glass below the rim, where arm mounts and clip-on lights attach, and the mesh window passes the light. If a bracket, a hang-on filter or a cord crosses the glass, add a cutout for it in the configurator and it shows on your proof before we cut.
- How long does a Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf lid take?
- You approve a digital proof first; the lid is then cut and ships free to the contiguous US, usually within a week of approval.
- What if the Lifegard 16 Gallon Long Bookshelf lid does not fit?
- Every catalog lid is guaranteed to fit the model it is listed for. If it does not fit because of our error, we remake it at no charge.
